Network Printing - Win98
Here's how to set up your computer to use a networked printer with Windows 98. (Note that now that Novell Netware 6 is on the scene, this process is far simpler than it ever was before).
First choose START/Settings/Printers.

Doubleclick "Add Printer" then click on "Next" in the box that comes up.

Choose the radio button for "Network printer" as shown, then click on "Next".

The following box will then appear. Click on "Browse" to browse for the printer -

You'll then see something like this -

Next doubleclick
on Staff-au and doubleclick your way to
Monash then Arts
then Printers.
You'll then see something like this -

It is now just a
matter of finding the printer you want to use then clicking on it
to choose it then clicking OK. As an example we've chosen the
LCL
5th floor west staff printer
(P-CL11-W506-A).

When it asks if you want to print from DOS based programs, say NO then click Next.
The computer may now say that the printer driver is already installed and ask if you want to keep the existing driver or replace it. If so, say "replace". Now click Next.

A box will now appear to allow you to type a name for the printer. This name is just for your benefit so a meaningful name comes up in the list of printers in Word or wherever you are choosing a printer from. So choose a name that makes sense - in this example we've put "LCL 5th floor west staff". It also asks if you want to set the printer as your default printer (the one that will be used when you print unless you tell it to use something else). You'd probably say "Yes" to this. Now click "Next".

It will offer to print a test page. You can do that if you want to.

Then click finish.
That's it - you've now successfully set up the printer on your Windows 98 computer.
