Undergraduate Indigenous Studies

Welcome to the Centre for Australian Indigenous Studies (CAIS) where students have opportunities to gain knowledge and understanding of Australian Indigenous cultures, traditions and histories. Our courses have strong links with the Programme for Australian Indigenous Archaeology, a new initiative of the School of Geography and Environmental Science.

Units offered

A major or minor sequence in Australian Indigenous Studies is offered to Bachelor of Arts students at Clayton. Students wishing to complete this major are recommended to take a first-year sequence in Australian Indigenous Studies.

Elective units

The major/minor units listed may be studied as electives in Arts and other combined degrees. Students intending to undertake Combined/Double Major Studies in Australian Indigenous Studies and other disciplines should seek enrolment advice and approval from the respective schools.
