1. What is the Monash Chinese Incountry Program?
什么是蒙纳士大学中国留学班？
The Monash Chinese Incountry Program is a highly intensive Chinese language summer course held at our Chinese partner universities in Shanghai and Beijing.
蒙纳士大学中国留学班是蒙纳士大学文科院与中国上海、北京等地合作院校联合举办的暑期汉语强化班。
The Monash Chinese Incountry Program caters for learners of various levels, from non-background learners to background learners of Chinese. It allows students to complete one or two Monash Chinese language units within 3 or 6 weeks in a totally Chinese language and cultural environment. The teaching materials, contact hours, course outlines, methods of assessment and workload of the Chinese Incountry Program units are identical to those of the corresponding Chinese language units offered by the Monash Chinese Studies Program in Melbourne.
留学班开设的中文课程适应各种汉语程度的同学，无论是有汉语背景的学生还是没有汉语背景的学生都能找到适合自己的课程。它可以让学生在三到六周内在汉语的语言和文化环境中完成一到两个学期才能完成的中文课程。留学班的教材、授课时间、教学大纲、教学计划、测试方法以及功课量都与蒙纳士大学中文系在墨尔本开设的相关中文课程一致。
With strong support from Monash Abroad, the Monash Chinese Incountry Program has grown into the largest of its kind in the world after over ten years of success. Over 2000 students from Monash and other Australian universities, schools, businesses and government institutions have joined our program and studied Chinese in China.

What Chinese units are offered at Shanghai, Beijing, etc.?

We run (Chinese language units 3 to 12) at Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) in Shanghai.

We offer three Chinese translation related units at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing. These three Chinese translation units are specifically designed to help students build up Chinese-English translation skills and basic knowledge and skills related to inter-cultural communication.
我们在北京的对外经贸大学开设三种中英翻译类课程，包括中英翻译、中英专业翻译和中英商务翻译课程。这三种翻译课的开设主要是帮助同学们提高中英互译技巧以及增进跨文化交流的相关基础知识。

3. How do I enrol into the Monash Chinese Incountry Program?
如何注册蒙纳士大学中国留学班的课？
Online applications open on Monday, 01 August 2011 and close on Friday, 16 September 2011 .You can apply via the Monash Chinese Incountry Program website : http://www.arts.monash.edu.au/chinese/incountry.

Once we have received your online application, you will be sent an email with further instructions.
我们在接到学生的网上注册后，将会发出一封电子邮件，告诉你下一步如何做。
All applicants are then required to pay enrolment deposit via eCart. The deposit will be 10% of the total tuition fee and will go to their tuition fees once paid. Applicants also need to get approval from their home faculty. Please note that students must get approval from their home Faculty/Institution in order to proceed to the next steps of the application process.

Students from the Monash Business and Economic Faculty must satisfy 2 criteria imposed by their home faculty: All students must have completed at least 2 semesters at Monash University and have an average of at least 60% for all units.

4. How many credit points will I receive for participating in the Chinese Incountry Program?
我参加留学班能得到多少学分？
After successfully completing the 3 week unit, you will receive 6 Monash credit points. This is equivalent to a semester unit at Monash.
如果你能够顺利完成中国留学班三周的学习，你将获得六个蒙纳士大学的学分，这相当于在蒙纳士大学一个学期内选修一门课程的学分。
If you can successfully complete the 6 week unit, you will receive 12 Monash credit points. This is equivalent to two units at Monash.

Students from other universities/institutions who have received permission to undertake study in the Program from their home institution will be able to transfer their Monash credits.

5. I am not a Monash student. Will I receive any recognition for participating in the Monash Chinese Incountry Program?
如果我不是蒙纳士大学的学生，参加蒙纳士大学中国留学班我会得到什么样的学业认可？
Students from other universities/institutions who have received permission to undertake study in the Monash Chinese Incountry Program from their home institution will be able to transfer their Monash credits through cross-institution arrangement.
来自其它院校的学生如果事前得到所属院校的批准，可以通过校际学分转换制度将蒙纳士大学的学分转换成本校的学分。
6. If I am a Cross-Institutional studies student how do I get my credit to count at my home university?
如果我是跨校选课的学生，怎样才能把留学班获得的学分转成我注册学习的大学的学分？
The academic record at your university will be automatically updated to show that you have enrolled into the program, although it will not state your mark once the program has been completed. Students need to request a Monash academic transcript which will state their mark, from the Monash Student Services Centre (http://www.adm.monash.edu.au/service-centre/academic-transcripts.html). A small fee applies.

All students participating in the Monash Chinese Incountry Program will receive a certificate from the Chinese host university acknowledging the successful completion of their enrolled unit. You may also apply for a Monash transcript in person or at the Monash Student Service Centre or via My.monash portal (http://my.monash.edu) upon successful completion of the program.
如果顺利通过考试，所有参加蒙纳士大学中国留学班的同学，都将得到一份中国大学的结业证，证明你顺利完成了所选课程的学习。 你还可到蒙纳士大学学生服务中心或通过蒙纳士大学网站( http://my.monash.edu) 申请成绩单 。8. How much will it cost this year?

The tuition fees for the Chinese Incountry Program 2011-12 are $2,800 for the 3-week program and $3,500 for the 6-week program. HECS does not apply to CIP.
2011-12年度蒙纳士大学中国留学班的学费为: 三周班2800澳元，六周班3500澳元。HECS不适用于中国留学班 。
Accommodation rates for the Chinese Incountry Program 2011-12 in an apartment-style unit or a hotel-style twin-share room are subject to Chinese host universities’ final confirmation.
2011-12年度中国留学班学生将住宿中方大学国际公寓或大学宾馆，住宿费以中方大学最后确认为准。
Please note: accommodation fees are to be paid directly to the Chinese host university after arrival in China. Payment can be made in cash in Chinese currency (Renminbi) or the equivalent amount in Australian Dollars or US Dollars in Shanghai, and in cash in Chinese currency only in Beijing. Cash withdrawal in Renminbi (RMB) from ATM is available at Chinese host universities.

Other costs such as transportation (taxi and public transportation), communication (telephone and mobile), food, and other daily expenses are usually much cheaper than in Australia.

9. What does my fee cover?
我交的学费包括什么？
Student enrolment fees cover tuition, textbooks and extra-curricula excursions.
Students need to pay for their return airfare, travel in China, accommodation, living expenses, and any other incidental charges.
注册时交的费用包括学费、书本费和与教学有关的参观项目费用。
你需支付自己的往返机票费、中国国内旅行费、住宿费、生活费和其他费用。
The Monash Chinese Incountry Program will provide travel and medical insurance for all participants. Details of travel and medical insurance will be published on our website.

11. Methods of payment for Monash Chinese Incountry Program
蒙纳士大学中国留学班付费方式
Once you have registered online, you should pay enrolment deposit via eCart. You’ll be sent an invoice for the balance of your tuition fee by email upon your completion of the whole enrolment process. Payment methods will be listed in your invoice.
当你初次在网上登记后，你需通过 eCart 支付注册定金。完成全部注册步骤后， 蒙纳士大学将把学费余额发票通过电子邮件寄给你，发票上将告诉你如何付款。
12. What is the deadline of the payment of my tuition fee?
交费的截止日期是哪一天？
All tuition fees must be paid as soon as possible and must be paid no later than the deadline set in your invoice. If you are going to pay by bank draft or wire transfer, please provide a copy of the bank draft or the application form for wire transfer with your name, student ID and the invoice number. Once the program commences, Monash staff stationed at the Chinese host university will receive a list of students who have enrolled but haven’t paid for the program. You will be contacted by Monash staff in China and will be asked to complete your payment or leave the Program.
学费应该在学费发票上的截止日期前尽早交付。你如果以银行汇票或电汇方式付款，请务必提供汇票复印件或电汇申请单复印件， 并必须注明你的姓名，学号和发票，以便查询。一旦留学班开学，蒙纳士留学班驻北京和上海的老师将会收到未付费学生名单。所有未付学费的学生将被要求立即付清学费，否则将被要求退学。13. Am I eligible to get financial assistance from Monash University?

14. How do I get a Monash Abroad Travel Grant?

Monash students who are permanent residents of the country or region other than P.R. China are eligible to apply for the Monash Abroad Travel Grant if you are undertaking the CIP units towards your degree. All you have to do is to provide a copy of your bank statement and a copy of your passport if you are a citizen of P.R. China when you submit all the required forms to CIP Admin. Office. 15. If I have received a Monash travelgrant and can't go on the CIP do I need to inform Monash Abroad?
如果我申请到了蒙纳士海外留学助学金，但后来又不能参加中国留学班的学习了，我需要通知蒙纳士大学海外留学办公室吗？
Yes - you will need to make arrangements with them to repay your grant. The Chinese Incountry Program coordinator will also notify Monash Abroad of your non-participation

Yes, if you have immediate family living in the same city you can stay with them, but you must inform us and provide us with accurate and up-to-date contact information.

17. Am I allowed to find my own accommodation?

18. If I have a health problem can I still participate in the Monash Chinese Incountry Program?

Only if you can provide a doctor's certificate stating that you are fit to travel abroad.

Please ensure that you are able to manage any chronic health problems, including having an adequate supply of any required prescription drugs. Check with your doctor for more details.
