Students' Success

Ellie Brown, a PhD student in Classical Studies, has won the annual Leeper Prize awarded by the Classical Association of Victoria. The prize is awarded to the highest-achieving student who completed a 4th year Honours in Classical Studies in the calendar year 2008. Congratulations to Ellie, and also to Dr Eva Anagnostou-Laoutides, who was Ellie’s Honours supervisor.

Hugh Niall, an Intermediate Latin student in 2008, has won first prize in the Unseen Translation Competition (250 AUD) organised by the Australasian Society of Classical Studies. In the same competition Neil McKinnon, an Advanced Latin student in 2008 in our program, has won a high commendation. Both classes were run by Dr Eva Anagnostou-Laoutides who also organised Monash's participation in the event. We warmly congratulate the winners and all of our students that participated in the competition. We also wish to encourage our current students for similar success in the future. Classical Studies at Monash is growing strong and news such as this confirm our mark at Pan-Australian level.
