Classical Studies Sequences

First-year sequence

A first-year sequence consists of CLA1020 and CLA1010 , or CLA1110 and CLA1120 , or CLA1210 and CLA1220 , or CLA1111 and CLA1121 , or CLA1211 and CLA1221 .

Minor sequence

A minor comprises one of the above first-year sequences followed by a further 12 points at second year level chosen from the list below.

Major sequence

Students complete a minor followed by 24 points at 3rd year level and including at least 12 points of either Latin or Ancient Greek at 2nd or 3rd year level (if neither language is taken as a 1st year sequence), and CLA3030 and CLA3040 or CLA3060 and CLA3050 if these units were not taken at second year level.

Units that can be counted toward discipline:

First-year level

Second/Third-year level

*CLA2040/3040 and CLA2030/3030 operate in odd years, alternating, in even years, with CLA2060/3060 and CLA2050/3050. CLA2040/3040 and CLA2030/3030 will, therefore, be offered again in 2007.

Classical Language Levels

It is possible to study up to 36 points of Latin (if all levels from Beginners to Advanced Latin are completed) and/or a maximum of 24 points of Ancient Greek (Introductory to Intermediate).
