Dr Jude McCulloch

Jude has researched and published on topics including, police shootings, crime and the media, women and policing, family violence, policing dissent, paramilitary policing, counter-terrorism, globalization and the 'war on terror'. She has written for the Age newspaper, Arena Magazine, Overland Magazine, The Alternative Law Journal, Current Issues in Criminal Justice, The Australian and New Zealand Journal of Criminology, The Feminist Law Journal and Borderlands e Journal. Melbourne University press published her book, Blue Army: Paramilitary Policing in Australia. She is also the author of a Victoria Legal Aid publication, Sexual Assault, the law, your rights.

Associate Professor Sharon Pickering

Dr Sharon Pickering

Sharon researches issues of policing, human rights, criminalisation and state crime. Forced migration, security and criminal justice is the focus of her most recent book Criminology and the Refugee to be published by the Federation Press in 2004. Sharon has written for the British Journal of Criminology, Policing and Society, Journal of Refugee Studies, Forced Migration Review, Women and Criminal Justice, Journal of Violence Against Women, Current Issues in Criminal Justice and has authored the books Women, Policing and Resistance in Northern Ireland , and (with Lambert and Alder) Critical Chatter: women and human rights in South East Asia.

Dr Dean Wilson

Dr Dean Wilson

Dean's research interests include surveillance and social control, media representations of crime and histories of policing. He has worked as a consultant with state and federal departments on the operation of CCTV . Dean is currently working on the impact of biometrics on border control, representations of the Pacific Solution and Guantanamo Bay (with Pickering and Third), and the impact of surveillance technology on police work. Dean has recently completed a major report for the Criminology Research Council Open Street CCTV in Australia. His forthcoming book Policing an Australian City is to be published in 2004.
