Course discontinuation

If you want to completely withdraw from your course you will need to course either complete the ‘Apply for course discontinuation’ form on the WES homepage, or submit an ‘Enrolment Amendment Form’ with the Faculty Office on your home campus.

Please refer to the principal dates site for cutoff dates for discontinuing your course without penalty.

Returning to study after a course discontinuation

There are a number of reasons why your course may have a status of "discontinued":

The process to resume your studies varies depending on the reasons why you left. Please be aware that your previous student status (CSP or full-fee) is not guaranteed via any of these processes.

Failure to re-enrol on time

If you wish to return to your course, but you have been discontinued because you failed to re-enrol on time, you will need to submit a Request for Reinstatement of Enrolment form. Please be aware, a late enrolment fee will apply. This applies to Arts managed courses only.

Official discontinuation

You may have left your course due to family commitments, work schedules or any other number of reasons.

If you wish to return to your course within 12 months of officially requesting a discontinuation you will need to submit a Request for Reinstatement of Enrolment form. This applies to Arts managed courses only.

If you left your course more than 12 months ago you will need to reapply for your course as if you were a new student. If the studies you completed prior to your discontinuation are recent enough you will be able to continue on at the point you stopped studying (i.e. the "ten year rule").

Enrolment has been invalidated

Your enrolment can be invalidated due to non-payment of fees. For information on this please visit the Invalidation of Enrolment section of the Central Fees site.

Exclusion - Unstatisfactory Academic Progress or disciplinary action

If you have been excluded from your course for either Unstatisfactory Academic Progress (UAP ), or as the result of a disciplinary matter, you will only be able to return to your course if you have met the conditions as outlined in your notice of exclusion: for details please see the Readmission after exclusion policy.
