Extensions Information for Arts Honours Students

Extensions in Honours Coursework units

The same Faculty of Arts policies and School procedures for undergraduate units apply to honours.

For extension of two days or less, see Extension to Assessment Deadline Procedures.

If you need longer than two days, you must apply for special consideration, see Special Consideration.

Extensions for the Thesis or Equivalent

Students can apply for an extension of up to one week. Requests for an extension must be made before the thesis due date, and must be made in writing (an email from your student email account is acceptable) to the relevant areas of study honours coordinator who may approve the extension.

Students seeking an extension longer than one week, or for any additional time after the first week’s extension, must apply for special consideration following the Faculty of Arts special consideration procedures, see Special Consideration.

Once the application for special consideration has been received and assessed by the Faculty, it will be directed to the school honours coordinator, who, in consultation with the area of study honours coordinator and supervisor, will determine a revised due date for the thesis submission.

The Faculty of Arts policy on late submission of undergraduate work and its associated penalties will apply to a thesis submitted after the due date, see Late Assessment Submission.
