English as an International Language

This discipline is available to international and non-English speaking background students.
English as an International Language is a course that offers both a practical approach as well as a theoretical understanding of the cultural and communicative characteristics of English. An important feature of the course is that all the units have been designed to acknowledge the students' second language relationship with the English language.

1st year sequence:
A first-year sequence in English as an International Language consists of EIL1010 and EIL1020. These units are offered via on-campus and off-campus learning modes.
Minor sequence:
A minor sequence in English as an International Language consists of a first-year sequence plus twelve points at the second-year level chosen from the units listed.
Major sequence:
A major sequence in English as an International Language consists of a minor as described above, followed third-year level units to the value of 24 points and chosen from the units listed .
