Participants in the Dean’s Scholars Program have access to a range of opportunities and activities not available to other Bachelor of Arts students.
Academic mentor
Professor Rae Frances is the Dean’s Scholars Program academic mentor. A contact point for students who want to discuss their academic structure, Professor Frances also monitors each student’s progress throughout the year. In consultation with the Dean’s Scholars Program Committee, Professor Frances organises an annual series of speakers for the group.

Dean’s Scholars Lounge
The Dean’s Scholars lounge is located on the eighth floor of the Menzies Building (Building 11) on the Clayton Campus.
The lounge provides a private learning environment with IT equipment and other facilities to enable students to reach their full academic potential. The lounge is restricted to Dean’s Scholars via a security code supplied by the Faculty. Students are provided with a negotiated limit of paper for their printing requirements.
Information sessions and seminars
The Dean’s Scholars Program offers a range of speakers each semester which cover contemporary topics such as terrorism and politics.
Scholarship and progression
Students in the Dean’s Scholars Program are required to maintain a Distinction (70%) average to retain their scholarship and place in the Bachelor of Arts as a Participant in the Dean’s Scholars Program. Students who are unable to maintain the required level of academic performance over the course of their studies will be transferred to the normal degree program and will forfeit their scholarship.
