About the School of English, Communications and Performance Studies
Welcome to the School of English, Communications and Performance Studies (ECPS).
We sit at the forefront of the ‘new humanities'. Our school brings together traditional scholarly approaches with innovative new ways of thinking and working – across a variety of creative, cultural, and social science areas of study.
Drawing on the classical humanities repertoire, the dramatic arts, and literature, we engage with contemporary issues such as:
- the information technology and communications revolution,
- the impact and value of the aesthetic,
- cultural capital, and
- the growing role of creativity in global economies.
We combine structured academic learning with creative and experimental methods – across schools of thought both historical and newly emerging.
