ECPS Student Resources

ECPS provides a number of resources for use by all students. These can be accessed via the School Office. Postgraduate students can access additional resources, see ECPS Postgraduates webpage for details.

Ad Hoc Bookings

All room booking requests associated with your course/unit must be made via an academic. If you need to book a room because of a unit requirement (e.g. a class presentation) contact your unit coordinator or supervisor.

Equipment Use

All equipment requests associated with your course/unit must be made via an academic. If you need to use an overhead projector, or audiovisual equipment because of a unit requirement (e.g. a class presentation) contact your unit coordinator or supervisor.

Film & Television students are permitted to borrow the video cameras by contacting the school’s Technical Officer and completing a booking form. While a booking form must be completed, it does not guarantee the availability of a camera. You must confirm the camera’s availability with the Technical Officer first.

DTS and Institute for Performing Arts students wishing to borrow a camera must contact the Stage Manager for their production.

DTS students are permitted to borrow the CD players available from the CDTS Office: you will need to leave your id card with the Drama Admin. Officer.

Film & Television Studies Editing Suites

Students enrolled in FTV3020 must access the FTV Editing Suites in order to complete assessment requirements. Your unit coordinator can explain the guidelines for booking a suite.

Once you have booked a time you can collect the suite key from the ECPS School Office; you must leave your id card with the School Office while you are using the suite.

The normal access hours for the FTV Editing Suites are 9am – 5pm (i.e. the same as the School Office). It may be possible for you to arrange extra time after hours, but you must inform your unit coordinator so that Security can be notified of your presence in the building. If you are returning the key after hours, please put it through the essay box slot; DO NOT take the key home. You will be able to retrieve your id card during office hours.

NB: School Office staff are not permitted to give your id card to another student nor is it possible to swap your id card for another student’s without returning the key.

School Library

The ECPS Library is situated 7th Floor West, Menzies Building in Room W710.

The Library is well stocked with excellent reference materials and theoretical texts. It also carries most of the theses completed in the School.

Honours and postgraduate students are welcome to use this space as a place for informal meetings (away from staff) and discussions. If you would like to book a time (or even a regular meeting time) over the semester please contact the School Office.

Thesis Archive

ECPS maintains an archive of Honours, Masters and Doctoral theses. Students can view previous candidates’ theses in the ECPS Library. If you are looking for a specific name or research area, please ask the School Office for help. Theses are not available for loan. However, some honours thesis are available for photocopying.

NB: Film and Television Studies and Visual Culture theses are not available in the School Library. For Film and Television Studies theses please contact the Section. For Visual Culture theses please contact the Department of Theory of Art & Design in the Faculty of Art & Design.
