Postgraduate Study in The School of ECPS

The School of English, Communications and Performance Studies contains one of the largest groups of postgraduates in the Faculty of Arts at Monash University. There are postgraduates working at PhD and MA level in all of the major disciplines with which the School is concerned: Cultural Studies, Drama & Theatre Studies, English, Film & TV, Literary Studies, Performance, Film & Television Studies, Writing, etc. For additional information refer to the postgraduate sections of each of the schools disciplines/centres.

Much of our communication with postgraduates is through e-mail and current postgraduates should ensure that they stay in regular contact with the School and supply a current e-mail address. There are two crucial members of staff both current and prospective students need to be able to contact. One is the postgraduate administrative officer and the other is the Postgraduate Co-ordinator of the School, who is currently Dr Brett Hutchins. The Postgraduate Co-ordinator has been deputed to sign all forms where the Head of School or Department is mentioned.

The School of ECPS has set up a Research Training Fund to provide financial assistance to its postgraduate students, to help meet small expenses entailed in research actiities, such as conference attendance, travel for research purposes, and publications. While research candidates should still apply firstly for the centrally-funded Travel Grants and Research Grants, the School Research Fund may be able to provide limited supplementary financial assistance. Requests for financial assistance should be made in the first instance to the School Office. All requests will have be required to include full documentation (conference details, travel tickets, book confirmation, receipts, etc).

The School has a Postgraduate Student Rep who is a member of the School's Postgraduate Committee and who may attend School Staff Meetings.
