Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS)
Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) is an innovative program designed for first year students.
The sessions guide students through the academic content with interesting activities and useful resources. Student leaders who have previously studied the unit facilitate weekly study sessions for current students. This is an opportunity to address tricky parts of your unit, meets some new friends and pick up useful tips from someone who has already done the unit. The focus is on learning from each other in a comfortable, engaging setting.
The PASS program began at Monash in 2008 and since then it has grown across campuses and faculties. It has proven success in boosting students’ academic performance and easing the transition to university life.
In 2011, the program is running in 8 first year units across the Arts faculty at both Caulfield and Clayton campuses including:
• ATS1326: Contemporary Worlds
• ATS1366: Introduction to Sociology
• ATS1262: Introduction to Social Behaviour
• ATS1329: Journalism 2
• ATS1280: Communications and society
• ATS1309: The Global Challenge
• ATS1192: Spanish Studies 2
