Biography
I came to Australia from France in 1986 as a lecteur at the University of New England (Armidale, NSW). I then went to the University of Sydney, where I was involved in the teaching and coordination of the language program in the Department of French Studies. I arrived at Monash in 1998. I am currently working towards my Doctorat at the Centre de Linguistique Applique (Universit de Franche-Comt, Besanon).
Teaching responsibilities
I design and coordinate the language programs for French Studies 7 and 8 (FRN1070/1080, FRN2070/2080) and French Studies 9 and 10 (FRN2090/2100, FRN3090/3100, FRN4090/4100) and teach one tutorial group at each level. I also teach the grammar workshop for French Studies 5 and 6 (FRN1050/1060, FRN2050/2060) and an optional French Studies subject on French Hip-Hop (FRN3703).
Administrative responsibilities
I am responsible for the exchange program with French or francophone Universities and can advise students who are considering completing some of their studies in one of these institutions.

Research interests
The learning / teaching of French as a foreign language constitutes my prime research interest. I am specifically interested in processes linked to written composition (cognitive, metacognitive and strategies). At the moment I am working on a project which seeks to monitor the impact of grammar checker usage on learners' awareness of questions related to morpho-syntactic accuracy. I have also a strong interest in curriculum design and evaluation.
Apart from these core research activities, I am interested in the question of national and social identity in contemporary France and how subcultures such as hip-hop reflect these problems.
