The Bachelor of Arts as a Participant in the Dean’s Scholars Program is a specialised program that grants high-achieving students a scholarship and access to a range of opportunities and activities not available to other Arts students.

Scholarship

The Dean’s Scholars are entitled to a scholarship of A$6,000.00 (approximately) per year. Students maintain their scholarship as long as they achieve a distinction average (70%) throughout the course. See Monash Scholarships for Information.

Private learning environment

The Dean's Scholars lounge is a private learning environment equipped with IT facilities and a kitchenette. The lounge is for the exclusive use of the Dean’s Scholars and is designed to facilitate the study experience. Students are provided with security card access and a negotiated amount of printing credit per semester.

Academic mentor

Professor Rae Frances (Dean of Arts) is the academic mentor for the program and a contact point for students who want to discuss their academic structure. Professor Frances also monitors each student's progress throughout the year. In consultation with the Dean's Scholars Program Committee, Professor Frances organises an annual series of speakers for the group.

Information sessions and seminars

The Dean's Scholars Program offers a range of guest speakers each semester which cover contemporary topics such as terrorism and politics. The program also conducts career workshops, seminars, conferences and provides information on public events.

Scholarship and progression

Students in the Dean's Scholars Program are required to maintain a Distinction (70%) average to retain their scholarship and place in the Bachelor of Arts as a Participant in the Dean's Scholars Program.
