Doug Holmes
Director
Doug established and leads MSE's financial sector programs and activities including the MSE collaboration with the BT Financial Group, and financial sector consulting practice. He founded the partnership with BT in 1998, and has provided the core development of MSE's proprietary assessment tools. The achievements resulting from this partnership led to two national awards including an AusIndustry award for collaborative R&D, as well as the inaugural Banksia Award for responsible investment. He has qualifications in engineering and environmental science ( B.Sc.(Mech. Eng.), M.Env.Sc.), and has 20 years' experience in environmental management, energy management, and renewable energy. Doug has also worked as a management consultant with Coopers & Lybrand, where he led the Environmental Management Services Group for C&L's Australian practice. He has also lectured on sustainability in the Monash MBA program, and previously worked with the United Nations Energy Program.

Dr Chris Fayers
Chris holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Masters in Environmental Science, and a PhD in corporate environmental reporting and stakeholder relations. He has a background in accounting and financial management, as well as experience in financial management, control and audit processes across a variety of industries. Prior to joining MSE, Chris worked as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs, and CitiBank. Chris has undertaken research to gauge awareness and better understand how financial analysts and fund managers utilize information on corporate environmental risk and performance in company valuation. He has also worked extensively on the development of sustainability performance rating tools for the BT Australian Eco Share Fund and Sustainability Share Fund. Chris currently coordinates MSE's sustainability ratings research.

Diana Arbeláez
Diana holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, a Masters of Science in Industrial Engineering with a focus on mathematical models and industrial organization and a Master of Environmental Science. Prior to joining MSE, Diana worked in research, consultancy and capacity building at the Andean Centre for Economics in the Environment in Bogotá, Colombia. Her work at the Andean Centre focused on economic instruments for environmental policy, in particular water pollution charges and the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol. At MSE, Diana has provided research for sustainable investment products, with a particular focus on the chemicals, transport, food and beverages, capital goods and steel sectors. She has also provided research for the BT Governance Advisory Service (GAS).

Paul Rogers
Paul has an honours degree in Geography from the University of Washington in Seattle, USA and is currently in the final stages of completing his PhD at Monash University. While undertaking research for his PhD on the economic, social and environment impacts of Indonesia's plantation development program, Paul has made regular visits to Indonesia. He has experience in rural development project evaluation and has worked closely with rural communities, plantation corporations and Indonesian government agencies. His PhD research aims to assist international institutions such as the World Bank in designing development initiatives, which are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable. Paul also has experience in natural resource management and urban sustainability.

Katrina Myers
Katrina holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance and International Business Management, and is presently completing a Masters of Corporate Environmental Sustainability Management at Monash University. Before joining MSE in September 2007, Katrina worked at EPA Victoria on the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, which works with financial institutions to develop and promote linkages between the environment, sustainability and financial performance. Prior to this, Katrina worked as a corporate banker for The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in London for five years. After completing its graduate program, she specialised in corporate real estate finance providing both balance sheet and non-recourse lending to real estate investment and development companies. At MSE, Katrina provides research for sustainable investment products and Regnan’s engagement service, with a particular focus on the capital goods, construction materials, transportation and utilities sectors.

Alison George
Alison is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Master of Environment from Melbourne University. Previously, as a Manager with Ernst & Young's Environment & Sustainability Services, she provided advisory and verification services with a focus on greenhouse (risk, reporting, and trading schemes) and sustainability (triple bottom line) reporting. Her industry experience includes energy and water utilities, oil and gas, paper and packaging. Alison is currently engaged in research developing methodologies for financial valuation of environment and social risk exposures.

 

   

Angelina Lee
Angelina's main area of research has been for BT Financial Group's Governance Advisory Service (GAS), having been MSE's Governance Manager: coordinating research work and resources as well as conducting environmental research and analysis. She also has contributed to the environmental and social rating of companies for BT Financial Group's Eco Share Fund and Sustainability Share Fund. Currently, Angelina is focussed on an enhanced analytics project for the Investor Group on Climate Change - Australia/New Zealand, which includes determining financial indicators for energy and greenhouse risks and opportunities. She also continues to provide oversight for GAS via the development of sustainability risk assessment frameworks.

Angelina joined MSE in 2002 from the sustainable development group at Ernst & Young. Her consulting experience covers business sustainability promotion and program development, integrated waste management, and greenhouse gas verification and project management. Angelina also has industrial R&D experience from BHP. Angelina holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and spent over three years at BHP working on a range of product and process improvement/development projects as well as on business group technology planning.

 

   

Shanit Borsky
Shanit has honours degrees in law and arts, and a Masters of Environmental Science. Formerly a solicitor with Mallesons Stephen Jacques, Shanit worked primarily in dispute resolution. Since joining MSE in 2001, Shanit has worked on a variety of corporate sustainability projects, specialising in development of social metrics for assessing social risk. She has also undertaken detailed research into sustainability issues in the project finance market, and issues surrounding the experience of international lending institutions with respect to adoption of the Equator Principles.
