Key People to Know

School Manager:

Heather Fletcher (Room S212a) is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and effective operation of the financial and administrative, human resources and technical services of the School. He can advise on occupational health and safety, access to laboratories, equipment availability and other technical resources.

Undergraduate Administrative Officer

Minh Nguyen (Room S214). General student and School administration inquiries.  Sharon is responsible for all undergraduate (including Honours) administration including enrolment and assessment procedures.  Sharon is also assistant to the Head of School.

Postgraduate Administration Officer

Bianca Roggenbucke (S216) is responsible for all postgraduate administration (coursework and research) of the School including enrolment, assessment and scholarship matters as well as acting as secretary to the Graduate School of Environmental Science committee. Bianca also acts as the timetable liaison officer and is the contact for all room bookings.

Finance Administration Officer

Jean Newey (Room S212 ) is the School finance officer and is responsible for the preparation and processing of purchase orders, invoices, re-imbursement claims, petty cash and the maintenance of all financial records . Jean also acts as clerical assistant to the resources manager.

Technical Staff

Multimedia Technician/Photographer

Kara Rasmanis (Room S208) provides photographic and digital imaging services to GES, the Faculty of Arts and other sections of Monash University including audio visual aids for lectures , power point presentations, location and technical photography and large format work. Specialties are digital restoration and imaging, portraiture and custom black and white printing.

Webmaster/Designer

Toby Wood (Room S204) is responsible for the design and maintenance of the School website.  He is also part of the Arts Imaging and Graphics team and can assist you with graphic design, illustration and all digital imaging requirements.

Laboratory Manager

Ursula Pietrzak (Room S217) is responsible for the smooth and safe running of all School teaching and research laboratories (palynology, soil science, microscopy and general purpose) and must to be consulted on all laboratory activities prior to commencement. She is responsible for the procurement, storage, use and disposal of hazardous substances and instruction of staff and students in the safe use of all laboratory reagents and equipment. Ursula is able to advise on all aspects of laboratory procedures.

Work Shop and Field Work Officer

David Tooth (WB03/S208) is the School's workshop and field officer and is responsible for school vehicles, boats, trailers, and camping equipment. He maintains a wide variety of field equipment and designs, manufactures and maintains specialist equipment. David instructs staff and students in the safe use of field equipment and conducts training in the use of 4WD vehicles.

Professional Officer Geographical Information Systems

Dr. Shobhit Chandra (Room S209a) is the manager of the School's Geographical Information Systems laboratory and is responsible for all matters relating to geographic information systems, information technology and data acquisition within GES. Shobhit instructs and advises staff and students in the application of geo-spatial and image analysis technology and administers Monash University site licences for GIS/GPS/IP software, and a digital library of spatial data for global, national and local spatial modelling.
