The Centre can call upon staff, research students and other researchers, specialising in urban population, environmental management, climatology, geomorphology, and hydrology, etc. This allows us to offer clients a variety of services ranging from mapping from data supplied through to data collection analysis and presentation. Here is a brief description of the team’s experience:

Xuan Zhu PhD, Co-Director, Centre for Geographical Information Systems
Expertise:

GIS theory, techniques and applications, Decision support systems for regional sustainable development, Environmental decision analysis and modelling, Land use analysis and modelling, Remote sensing of the environment, GIS in Schools
Jim Peterson PhD, Co-Director, Centre for Geographical Information Systems
Expertise:
Research project formulation and supervision, including data quality appraisal and thematic mapping, especially in environmental science relevant to coastal and catchment management. Overseas experience is extensive, mainly in cold and mountainous terrains. Languages (apart from English): phrase-book knowledge of Neo-Melanesian, Indonesian and French.
