Hardware and Gis Software

Hardware:

Computers:

Input Devices:

Former emphasis on "in-lab" input devices is giving way to handling of data from data vendors and custodians of State Spatial Data Infrastructure (from whom we have data access for teaching and research purposes). Nevertheless, from time to time, analogue -to-digital conversion of archival maps is required, and if a scanning bureau is not called on for this, the digitising tablet is used.

Output Devices:

Back-up devices:

CD/ DVD Read and Write burners for CD-R and CD-W type of media. DVD +/-R and +/-RW for burning data. Zip and Jaz drives are also available for storage and backup, besides Novell Network drives for temporary backups.

GIS Software:

NB: The following software products are used under educational licences. Accordingly, software vendors are acknowledged in these terms as research project sponsors (see Publications ). In consultancy terms, the list below refers, therefore, to expertise rather than to capacity. Commercial licences can be obtained as necessary.
