Research Strengths of the School of Music-Conservatorium

The School of Music offers Masters degrees in musicology, ethnomusicology, performance and composition, and a PhD in musicology, ethnomusicology and composition.

The School’s research in ethnomusicology and musicology are a specialty, as are its concert and composition activities.

Other areas of research include Southeast Asian ethnomusicology, organology and composition/music technology, instrument pedagogy, Australian Jewish and Asian Jewish liturgical music, popular music and performance. Staff have also published on aspects of Indigenous Australian music.
