Research Pathways
Traditional research pathways
The traditional pathway into a Monash Arts research degree is the Bachelor of Arts degree with honours. This is a three year undergraduate degree with a fourth year of coursework and a research project. An alternative pathway for students without an Australian honours degree or who have not completed a significant research project at a fourth year level is the Postgraduate Diploma of Arts (Research). Those without formal research experience and who have completed a postgraduate qualification such as a graduate diploma or a coursework masters degree and have achieved distinction grade average, may be eligible to enrol in the Master of Arts (Research and coursework).
Alternative pathways
Each school in the faculty places different emphasis upon the particular pathways described above. Some schools offer alternatives not described here, for example, prospective student may be given credit for experience in the workforce or prior professional training. It is wise to discuss your pathway options with the school as early as possible.
