Postgraduate Studies (Coursework) - School of Historical Studies
Introduction
'Coursework' is used to describe programs in which work completed is selected from a list of offered units. The School of Historical Studies offers a variety of postgraduate coursework programs designed to add to, or build on, knowledge acquired in a bachelors degree. These include graduate certificates (developed for students with professional experience at senior level but no formal university degree), postgraduate diplomas (for those with bachelors degrees) and masters degree courses, several of which enable some students with a bachelors degree direct entry into masters candidature.
Students enrolled in postgraduate coursework programs normally have set classes and an outline for each unit. Several courses include a research project, allowing students to specialise in their own area of interest, under supervision.
