Historical Studies Policy Section 6.9.2 - Types of special consideration

A. Allowing for an extension of time for submission of assessable written work.

B. Permitting a stuedent who has been unable to sit an exam due to exceptional circumstances to sit a deferred exam. (Faculty Form)

C. Supplementing assessment already completed so as to determine whether a student should pass or fail a subject by way of (a) an oral examination, or (b) requiring the submission of additional work.

D. Allowing for exemption of particular items of assessment

E. Making minor adjustments to marks and grades. Additional marks may be awarded in the range 1-4% of the total.

F. In extreme cases (only) allowing a student to withdraw from the subject.

G. Application not approved - insufficient supporting documents - more information is required - student should be advised by School.

H. Application not approved - grounds insufficient or supporting documents insufficient - student should be advised by School.

Academic units assessing the applications must mark on the application form in the "department use only" box what type/s of special consideration were granted.
