Diploma of Tertiary Studies

Providing the skills for success
The Diploma of Tertiary Studies is a one year full-time course designed as an alternative first year program for university study. It is particularly suited to students seeking additional learning support in their first year of university study, and is offered at the Gippsland campus (Churchill and Leongatha) and Berwick campus of Monash University.
What to expect
The Diploma of Tertiary Studies (DoTS) will provide:
- a university experience that includes additional support and study skills designed to provide a sound basis for success in degree studies.
- units from your degree of interest. At the Churchill campus students can undertake units in: arts; art and design; business and economics; civil and environmental engineering; education; information technology; nursing and science. At the Leongatha Clinical Centre students can undertake nursing units. At the Berwick campus students can undertake units in: arts; business and commerce; and information technology. (A small number of places may be available for nursing and education degrees offered at the Peninsula campus).
- units that will equip you with the skills to write essays, undertake research, solve problems, think critically, and communicate your ideas more effectively. The advantages of taking DoTS include:
- an opportunity to explore academic options if you are uncertain about future career directions
- the opportunity to apply for the degree of your choice with credit for units completed in DoTS
- no additional year of study
- assistance in developing an appreciation of the nature of university learning
- the opportunity to articulate into a Monash University degree
