Italian Studies Entry Points

All students are encouraged to do more than the minimum number of units/points since this will increase their linguistic, analytic and critical skills and knowledge.

Intending teachers should note that a three-year post-VCE major in Italian Studies is the prerequisite for teacher training in Italian; students entering at level 1 in their first year may reach this level by doing core language units in Italian Studies in their Honours year. Levels 6 or 8 at third year are prerequisites for entry into Honours.

First year Italian Studies has FOUR ENTRY POINTS, allowing students, from beginners to advanced, to begin first year study at an appropriate level. Each starting point corresponds to a first year sequence of two units. Enrolling students select ONE of these ITALIAN STUDIES FIRST YEAR SEQUENCES according to the criteria set out for each one. Students who are inappropriately enrolled for their language proficiency level will be required to change their enrolment.

For further information students should contact the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics.
