Biography
I started my career as a technical writer at Sony, then taught Japanese at Australian Universities for ten years. I have also been a manager at a technical translation company.
I have always been involved in language and intercultural relations and interested in how language can influence interpersonal relationships, and how culture can influence language. During interpreting assignments, I am fascinated by how different people interact with each other and how language can influence this process.
In the translation domain, I specialize in technical translation, mainly in computer manuals and automotive manuals. I use Computer Aided Translation (CAT), and I have conducted seminars on this software. I am excited that I have started teaching CAT as part of the Technology and Translation course that we started teaching last year.
