About the Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation
The Australian Centre for Jewish Civilisation is part of a distinguished university which bears the name of Sir John Monash, a preeminent national figure of Jewish faith. Its academic staff covers a diverse range of disciplines and research interests led by four professorial Research Chairs, and its Director, Associate Professor Mark Baker. The ACJC sits in the School of Historical Studies, Faculty of Arts.- Undergraduate Studies

- offer a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate subjects encompassing the gamut of Jewish civilization, including history, though, languages, classical texts and modern Israel studies;
- undertake research that encourages intramural, national and international collaboration in Jewish studies;
- develop Masters and Doctoral programs of international standing;
- train Jewish studies teachers and to provide opportunities for graduate study in Jewish education and Jewish professional development;
- facilitate the involvement of the community in Jewish learning by hosting forums, seminars and debates and by the provision of educational resources;
- promote interreligious and inter-cultural relationships in the university and wider community through collaborative scholarly projects
The ACJC is governed by an Advisory Committee composed of university and external members.
