The Monash University Foundation for Jewish Studies

The Monash University Foundation for Jewish Studies was established by the Council of Monash University in November 2001.

The Foundation's board, consisting of communal leaders and academics is responsible for safeguarding the intentions of donors as well as ensuring that funds are well managed and directed towards their intended purpose.

The Foundation is governed by regulations approved by the Monash University Council. All donations made to the Foundation are tax-deductible.

Gifts to The Foundation, including donations and bequests, promote excellence in research, learning and teaching.

The Foundation also receives gifts of endowment. Such a gift demonstrates a long-term commitment to the Centre. An endowment is a fund that is maintained in perpetuity, and only a portion of the annual investment return is used for the purposes specified by the donor. The rest of the investment yield is returned to the principle. Thus, over the years, the fund can grow, and hopefully, keep pace with inflation. Such endowments, which typically bear the name of the donor(s), reflect the donor's interests and serve as an enduring testament to their generosity.
