Scholarships & Prizes

Each year, the ACJC awards a number of scholarship and prizes to students enrolled in its courses and units.

PhD Scholarships

Elton PhD Scholarship
This prestigious scholarship, donated to the ACJC in 2007 by Zyga and Diana Elton, is available to applicants who are currently undertaking or proposing to undertake a PhD in any area of Jewish Studies.

PhD Scholarship in Modern Israel Studies
Available to students undertaking doctoral research in the field of modern Israel studies.

Masters (Research) Scholarships

Zyga and Diana Elton Research Scholarships
This is a partial scholarships, valued at $10,000 awarded to a student enrolled in an MA (research) in Jewish studies.

Caren Lee Topol Scholarship
This is a partial scholarship, valued at $10,000, awarded to a student enrolled in an MA (research) or PhD in Jewish studies.

Zyga and Diana Elton Honours Scholarships
These scholarships are for students enrolled in Honours through the ACJC.

Travel Scholarships

Paul Huppert Memorial Holocaust & Genocide Studies Travel Scholarship
Donated by Michele Huppert in memory of her late husband, Paul, a Holocaust survivor, this scholarship is awarded to a student undertaking an overseas internship or work placement as part of a Master in Holocaust and Genocide Studies degree.

Pinskier Memorial Holocaust & Genocide Studies Scholarship
Donated by Nathan and Henry Pinskier in memory of their father, Leizor, a Holocaust survivor, this scholarship is awarded to a student undertaking an overseas internship or work placement as part of a Master in Holocaust and Genocide Studies degree.

Ryvka & Mordechai Lewin Memorial Yiddish Travel Scholarship
This scholarship is available each year to a student enrolled in a Yiddish language and literature unit, wishing to enrol in an intensive Yiddish language course at an approved overseas institution.

Peter & Barbara Kolliner Jewish Studies Abroad Travel Scholarship
Supported by an endowment gifted to the ACJC by Peter and Barbara Kolliner, this scholarship is available to students enrolled in any of the ACJC's Jewish Studies Abroad units.

Graduate Research Travel Scholarships
Grants of varying amounts are available to postgraduate research students (Masters or PhD) to assist with the cost of study overseas to undertake fieldwork or research. Prizes

Bernard Rechter Jewish Civilisation Honours Prize
For the best Jewish studies Honours thesis.

Peter & Barbara Kolliner Undergraduate Prize in Jewish Civilisation
For the top Jewish studies student completing a major or minor sequence in Jewish civilisation.

Holocaust Studies Prize
For the top student in the unit Holocaust in an Age of Genocide.

Stewart Baron Prize in Middle Eastern and Israel Studies
For the top student in the units History of the Arab-Israel Conflict, The Modern Middle East or Modern Israel: History, Politics & Society.
