A product of Monash University's Yiddish Melbourne project, A Shtetl in Ek Velt is a collection of autobiographical writings about growing up in pre-war Carlton, where Jewish immigrants escaping the hardships and discrimination of Eastern Europe created a vibrant cultural enclave for themselves. The book comprises the accounts of 54 authors, providing insight into the lives of a myriad of characters.
