Monash Journalism staff: text transcript of video

In terms of people’s professional background and recognition by their peers Monash Journalism has the most highly qualified staff in Australia. We’ve got people who’ve won Walkley Awards, people who’ve won the Gold Walkley Award, which is the very top award, people who’ve won United Nations Awards, people who’ve won Logie Awards, people who are part of international consortia where they are invited to work with other journalists on an international basis. We have got staff who are extraordinarily well connected into the Journalism profession. People who have been editors, executive producers who effectively know everybody there is to know in the Australian media industry. Now that pays off firstly in terms of our staff knowing the standards and the skills that are expected of graduates when they’re going for employment, it pays off in terms of those people being able to line up internships, work experience programs, make the call that will get a student into the unit where they really want to do some work experience. That is an enormous asset that students are benefiting from, from the moment they walk through the door at Monash.
