The following web task helps students to see a movie in Korea. They will
learn how to select a movie, book a ticket on the web and get there. The web
task is suitable for an intermediate level or more.
1. Visit "Seoul Cinema" whose web site is
http://www.seoulcinema.com/index.htm
Find some movies that are currently on show in the cinema.
For new words, use one of the following web dictionaries:
Yahoo On-line Dictionary (http://kr.engdic.yahoo.com/)
BlueDic On-line Dictionary? (http://www.bluet.net/BlueDic/BlueDic.html)
Hanme Digital Library Dictionary (http://library.hanmesoft.co.kr/)
2. Select one movie that you would like to see. To see the details about the
movies, click on the movie posters. Introduce the movie you selected
including the following:
title
director
main characters
Say something about the movie synopsis in Korean or English.
3. Go to 'Time schedule and Web booking' section for booking a ticket.
Have a look at the section to find how to book a ticket. Complete the
booking process.
(Hints: For booking, you need to do some consecutive actions such as
selecting a movie -> selecting a date when you would like to see the movie
-> selecting a running session -> filling in the Booking form from the
Pop-up window. Booking is completed when you finish to fill in the pop-up
form. Your booking will be cancelled before the selected movie starts on the
selected time unless you deposit money one day before the movie runs.
Therefore, it's free to practice the booking. You will get an email reply
shortly from the cinema after booking). Forward the email reply to your
Korean instructor.
4. Go to the section 'Where is the Seoul Cinema?' What kinds of
transportation does the guideline on the section recommend? Which method do
you prefer to get there?
