German Studies Community Engagement
The German Studies program works closely with the Goethe-Institut (e.g. organising visits by German scholars and writers, such as the novelist Marcel Beyer in May 2003).
The program is represented on the Victorian/German Joint Standing Committee on Educational Cooperation; has close links with DEET (e.g. providing Teacher Upgrade Courses, developing teaching material supported by the Victorian Department of Education & Training [Globetrotter], trialling teaching material in Victorian state schools); participates in the organisation of the Goethe Poetry Competition (in alternate years); and will organise VCE preparation classes in 2003.
