Several members of the Linguistics program are involved in the documentation of endangered languages and are working with communities interested in reclaiming them (in Canada. Australia, Asia, Europe and the Pacific). Others work closely with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority, schools and parents in the development of language teaching policy relating to the teaching of languages other than English, and also to the new VCE subject which introduces linguistics via the study of English and The Indigenous Languages of Victoria. The Linguistics program continues to maintain a consultancy in forensic linguistics drawing on the expertise of staff and PhD graduates.
