Media and Popular Cultural Flows in East Asia: Transnational Flows of Mediated Narratives in Comics, Cinema and TV Dramas
(Funded by the ARC Asia Pacific Futures Research Network and the Korea Foundation) 4th - 5th August 2006 Japanese Studies Centre, Monash University, Clayton
The project addresses the APFRN theme for 2006 (Building effective communication in the Asia Pacific) by looking at the effect of increasingly shared cultural content in the communication media on the tension-ridden East Asian region, and the significance of the new media technologies and the cultural flows they generate. It will also build effective communication in the Asia Pacific by bringing together academics (including doctoral and postdoctoral researchers) from Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
