Lijian Hong is a member of the Faculty’s East Asia Steering Group

English as an International Language

Farzard Sharifian initiated a collaboration scheme with colleagues at the University of Hong Kong, which led to a signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Monash and Hong Kong University.

English as an International Language has consistently filled the position of the International student Mentor of the faculty.

Sally Staddon is convenor of Monash - NCLT (National Centre for Language Training) activities.

Natalie Doyle is a member of the Europe steering group.

German

Regular Visiting Fellowships to Monash partly funded by the DAAD (German academic exchange service)

Indonesian

Basoeki Koesasi received a prestigious award on March 3 2006 from the Gadjah Mada University for his Distinguished Service, Dedication and Contribution to International Cooperation in the area of Education and Training between Indonesia and Australia.

The Program is promoting Monash University within the higher education community in Indonesia.

Italian

Annamaria Pagliaro seconded to directorship of the Monash Centre Prato, from 2005.

Japanese

Ross Mouer, Alison Tokita and Hiroko Hashimoto are in the North Asia Committee of the Arts Faculty.

Linguistics

Redevelopment of existing unit “Managing Intercultural communication” as School unit (Heather Bowe with Farzard Sharifian) to be offered as a an undergraduate unit and postgraduate unit.

She was involved in the organisation of a joint meeting of the Faculties of Arts and Sciences with Professor Guido Giordano, a visiting Professor from The University of Rome 3, to discuss collaboration and the possibility of developing joint degrees.
