Mission
Welcome to the Research Centre for New Media in Language Learning. This exciting new Centre, established in 2004, brings together international experts in the use of new media in language education in order to:
- Foster collaborative research and establish an agreed research agenda in a field hitherto characterized by isolated and one-off investigations
- Provide opportunities for innovative Masters and PhD projects, supervised collaboratively by internationally recognized researchers
Our mission is to:
- bring together researchers in the School, elsewhere in the Faculty and in other Faculties at Monash and provide mentoring and opportunities for collaboration.
- foster international co-operative projects.
- co-ordinate outstanding supervision for postgraduate students
- strengthen the nexus between teaching, research and development
- maximize research funding from industry and government sources.
What is meant by New Media in this context?
All recent information and communication technologies that might be usefully employed in learning environments such as networked computer systems, multi-media, virtual worlds, email, chat, audio-graphics, mobile phones, bulletin boards.
