Postgraduate Study

The supervision of postgraduate students is a major focus of the Centre. While students will be enrolled in the department in which their main supervisor is located, e.g. French, Linguistics or Education, the Centre provides dedicated support and shared facilities for all students working in the field. We welcome ideas for proposals at Masters and PhD level (by thesis only) and would be happy to discuss the development of a formal research proposal. The Centre is well placed to provide immediate supervision in the following areas, but every effort will be made to accommodate promising ideas not covered here.

Research areas:

Flexible Study Opportunities

Monash is committed to flexible study arrangements: you will be pleasantly surprised that your entire degree can be taken externally with physical presence at the University only required for a short period of time, if this is what you prefer.

Support Structures

Monash is also committed to supporting students in the best way possible. If you prefer to study on campus, many helpful support structures, such as workshops in thesis writing, time management or research methods and statistical analyses , will be at your disposal. You will also have access to scholarships, publication awards and prizes. See:

The Centre itself is committed to timely and frequent feedback on your work and runs regular sessions to discuss your project with peers and supervisors. We provide a friendly environment, characterized by collaboration and support.

12-Point Projects

If you are currently enrolled in a Master by coursework degree, we also offer advice and supervision for 12-point projects.
