Postgraduate/Graduate Coursework

The School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics offers a wide range of research and coursework programs. Some are offered within particular programs of the School while others are available across programs.

Since research and coursework degrees are categorized separately by the university, information is found in two sections of this website. Coursework programs are described here, but for information on Graduate Research Degrees (both Masters and PhD), please refer to Graduate Studies (Research).

The School offers the graduate/postgraduate coursework programs in the following areas:

Interpreting and Translation studies

These course seeks to develop students' skills in translation/interpreting in English and another language, and their awareness of practical and theoretical approaches to translation/interpreting and translation/interpreting studies. Students gain a foundation in theories of translation/interpreting and receive training in research on translation/interpreting studies.

Students may study:

Applied Linguistics

In these courses students will gain a critical understanding of theoretical and practical issues relating to applied linguistics, including second/foreign language acquisition, language teaching, language contact and intercultural communication. Students receive training in research in the field and are equipped with skills to make a significant professional contribution to the field of applied linguistics.
