Students enrolling in 100% research courses (i.e. PhD, Masters by 100% research) can enrol any time of  the year. Students doing coursework usually enrol at the beginning of the academic year starting with Semester 1. However, commencement from Semester 2 is also offered in most programs - please check the individual pages on this site, and contact the School if you require further information about this.

International students must enrol full-time.

A list of semester and vacation dates is available from the University Secretariat site.

Applications

Application forms for Postgraduate Coursework and Research degrees (local and international) are available from the Faculty of Arts website: http://www.arts.monash.edu.au/future/

Note: it is best to contact the School to obtain an application form for research degrees as the applicant must first consult with an academic staff member regarding their research proposal and potential for supervision. 1. Closing Date for Applications for Australian Students

The closing date is usually in November each year.. Applications may be accepted beyond this date, but there is no guarantee of a CSP place. If CSP places are full, then a full-fee paying place may be offered. The closing date for mid-year entry is usually the first week in June each year.

2. Closing Date for Applications for International Students

There are no official closing dates for international applications, however, applicants should allow time for processing and the acquisition of a student visa.

The coursework programs are semesterised and the 2009 academic year runs from late February until October. Semester One commences on 2nd March 2009 and Semester Two commences on 20th July, 2009. Please note that students are not permitted to enrol after the first two weeks of any semester.

Mid-year entry is available for some courses. Applications should reach Monash International at least two months prior to the course commencement date, however, again you should apply as soon as possible to allow time for processing and the visa application process.

Research candidates are not tied to a semester enrolment. They are enrolled on a monthly basis from the beginning to the end of their candidature, thus, fees are calculated according to the number of months enrolled and the student load for each year.
