Research Travel Awards
Maximum of $800 per award for those attending a conference or conducting field research in Australia.
Maximum of $1,500 per award for those attending a conference or conducting field research overseas.

Awards may be granted for
- fieldwork and/or
- travel to conferences at which the student is presenting a paper. Any student applying to attend a conference should submit a plan demonstrating how the conference paper will result in a refereed, DEST-reportable publication.
What do you need to supply?
- A written explanation of why School support is needed.
- Applications will be viewed more favourably if eligible graduate research students also apply for the Monash Research Graduate School travel grant. Please attach a copy of the MRGS application to your School travel award submission.
- Applicants should also apply
for the Faculty of Arts Postgraduate Travel Top-Up grants. A maximum
'top-up' of $700 may be requested. For more information,see:

- Those who apply for a second School grant must produce a report or copy of the report of the previous fieldwork undertaken or conference attended. Any evidence of publication must be submitted.
Who is eligible?
Graduate research students in the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics. Students may be full-time or part-time and at any stage of their candidature.
The School has also decided that postgraduate coursework students are also eligible to apply for the conference grant. Evidence of conference attendance as well as the plan for publication must be submitted with the application.
Successful awardees are requested to submit a brief written report upon their return.
