Masters of Linguistics in Language Endangerment Studies
For your application to be considered, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- A Bachelor's degree with a credit average in the final year, or
- A Bachelor's pass degree with at least 5 years of relevant, documented, Community and/or professional experience at a senior level (such applicants will be required to submit a full CV, a 1,000 word statement and the names of two professional referees), or
- Postgraduate Diploma in Linguistics in Language Endangerment Studies with a credit average.
Postgraduate Diploma in Linguistics in Language Endangerment Studies
For your application to be considered, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- A Bachelor's degree with a credit average in the final year, or
- A Bachelor's pass degree with at least 5 years of relevant, documented, community and/or professional experience at a senior level, or
- Graduate Certificate in Linguistics in Language Endangerment Studies with a credit average.
Graduate Certificate in Linguistics in Language Endangerment Studies
For your application to be considered, you must meet one of the following criteria:
- A Bachelor's degree with a credit average in the final year, or
- A Bachelor's pass degree with at least 5 years of relevant, documented, community and/or professional experience at a senior level,
or
- At least 5 years of relevant, documented, community and/or professional experience at a senior level.
Transferring to the Masters
Some students enrolled in the Postgraduate Diploma or Graduate Certificate courses may wish to transfer to the Masters program.
Students who have already completed the Graduate Certificate of Linguistics in Language Endangerment may receive 'advanced standing' (receive credit) in the Masters for a maximum of 24 credit points at 4th year level, provided a credit average was achieved in the Graduate Certificate.
Students who have already completed the Postgraduate Diploma of Linguistics in Language Endangerment may receive 'advanced standing' (receive credit) in the Masters for a maximum of 48 credit points at 4th year level, provided a credit average was achieved in the Postgraduate Diploma.
Graduate Certificate students may also wish to transfer to the Postgraduate Diploma. Students who have already completed the Graduate Certificate of Linguistics in Language Endangerment may receive 'advanced standing' (receive credit) in the Postgraduate Diploma for a maximum of 24 credit points at 4th year level, provided a credit average was achieved in the certificate course.
International Students
International Students studying on-campus at Monash Clayton must meet on-campus residency requirements. The Australian Government issues student visas for full-time study on the understanding that you study on-campus and have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees and living expenses for the duration of your time in Australia. English Language Requirements
For Monash courses you need to reach a certain level in English language. Students from non-English-speaking countries need to prove their competence in English in one of the following ways:
a. IELTS: an overall band score of not less than 6.5 on the IELTS. In addition, a score of at lest 6.0 is required in each module and applicants must undertake the appropriate module (A, B or C) in regard to reading and writing; or
b. TOEFL: an overall score of 580 with a 5 in the TWE test. Scores must be available for both the TOEFL and TWE. A minimum score of at least 237 is needed on the computerized TOEFL testing, plus a core of 5 or more for the TWE; or
Masters, Postgraduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate applicants
only:
c. successful completion of a course of tertiary
studies of at least two years duration requiring formal assessment
of written work in an English-speaking country.
