Teachers Often Seek Insight Into How Better to Champion Language As Both a Vehicle for the Extension of One's Mind and a Window On How Mind and Extension Exist and Operate. Their Participation As Change Agents Through Schooling Is Inextricably Linked with the Language Environments They Help to Create. Such Participation has Been Affected by New Technologies but Systems Have Sometimes Struggled to Maintain Pace and Relevance with and Through Technology. Too Often the "Targeted Beneficiaries" Have Been Under-Utilised or Neglected in the Design, Implementation, and Critical Evaluation Processes of Technology That Can Be Life Changing. Participants in Any Educational Setting Include Many Whose Differences Place Special Learning Needs Into the Mix That Teachers Confront. The Benefits and Dangers of Inclusion and Exclusion Practices, and the Virtualities and Realities of Preferred Cultural, Social, and Individual Pathways to Growth and Development, Loom As Issues for Researchers and Teachers to Co-Identify, to Jointly Explore and to Critically Advocate. This Conference Seeks to Speak to the 'Action' of Human Development As Teachers and Researchers Participate in Its Promotion. The Theme has Been Chosen to Facilitate Growth in Critical Understanding Surrounding Participatory Practice Particularly As Views Have Formed Against Backdrops of Cognition, Language, and Special Education.
