Frances Sagala
Monash Nominee, Erasmus Mundus Master of International Humanitarian Action, 2008
I completed a double degree at Monash University : Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in 2008. Following this, I was delighted to be selected for a scholarship through the Monash Asia Institute, which allows me to complete the NOHA Masters in Europe. I completed the first semester at the Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium and the second semester at the Universidad de Deusto in Spain, with a specialisation in International Law and Management. I would like to thank all the lecturers and staff at Monash University who over the years have inspired me to pursue further study.
During the first semester, I attended many interesting conferences in Brussels. Further, the Université catholique de Louvain is very dynamic with an active student body. There are strong links between the staff, students and also external players such as the business community, government and NGO sector. Likewise, the second semester at the Universidad de Deusto has been stimulating and challenging. The program has a very rewarding style of teaching, with visiting lecturers from around the world taking intensive modules. This provides a great opportunity to meet researchers and practitioners from around the world.
