Mrs. Chooi Hon Ho

Mrs. Chooi Hon Ho (M.Admin (Monash)) is an Honorary Research Fellow at Monash Asia Institute.  She holds degrees from University of Malaya (BA Hons) and Monash University (M.Admin), as well as professional qualifications in library and information science. She initiated and was instrumental in establishing the Asian Studies Research Library with a team of subject specialist resource librarians to support the University’s Asian Studies programs. This initiative was recognised by the University in 2000 when the Asian Studies Research Library team was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Exceptional Performance. She was a member of Monash University Library Management Committee for more than 15 years and retired as Director of Corporate Services and International Development of Monash University Library in 2004.

Chooi Hon Ho has extensive experience with the Chinese community in Victoria. A foundation member and past president of the Chinese Association of Victoria (CAV), she has been editor of many of its publications including the CAV Newsletter for 20 years.

Her research interests include the settlement characteristics of the Chinese in Australia and the Chinese diaspora.

Current Research

Chooi Hon Ho  is currently working in collaboration with  Professor Kee Pookong, Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) Japan on the Chinese Australian Contributions to the Health Professions.
