SMI: The Scanlon-Monash Index of Social Cohesion

The vast majority of Australians have a high level of identification with their country, the fundamental prerequisite for any cohesive society. In 2012, 28% of respondents indicated that 'taking all things into consideration', over the last year they had been 'very happy'. But there has been consistent downward movement since 2007 in indicators of acceptance and rejection.
