School of Music’s Reading and Writing Group
The School of Music’s Reading and Writing Group meets once a month to discuss works in progress. It is a supportive forum comprising staff and postgraduates in which constructive criticism is given on members’ conference abstract or presentation, journal article or book chapter, thesis proposal or grant application.
How it works
Members with work ready for discussion email it to the group a week ahead of the meeting. In the meeting the item is discussed and feedback is provided.
Features of the Group
- Staff and students from composition, ethnomusicology, musicology and performance work together
- Work can be brought to the group at any stage of preparation, from start to finish
- Getting feedback from the group over a sustained period of time makes it easier to revise and polish an article, presentation or any piece of writing
