Strings Performance Program

Classical

The Monash String program provides a supportive environment for students to develop a broad range of skills in performance and pedagogy. Students are challenged to develop independence of musical thought and are given opportunities to develop skills in all areas of string performance including period performance, the techniques of contemporary repertoire and improvisation. The pivotal recordings of the 20 th century are examined in detail and special workshops examine the sound and individual artistry of performers such as Szigetti, Kreisler and Busch. Performance opportunities are many and varied: students from all year levels are provided opportunities to perform publicly in the Twilight Concert series, the lunch hour concert series and the Concerto competition.
