Graduate tourism program
Master of Tourism students on a study to the Yasawa Islands in Fiji
Working in the world's fastest growing industry
In the twenty-first century the ‘international tourism industry' can more accurately be described as the global movement of people around the world for a variety of motivations including; business, study, work, conferences and exhibitions, leisure, special events, working holidays and visiting friends and relatives (VFR).
Australia is widely recognised internationally for its skill in the strategic management and marketing of the tourism industry and has become a hub for students from all around the world to come and study.
The Master of Tourism is Australia's leading, longest running (since 1989) and most innovative industry-focused specialist program and it has been designed to prepare you for an international career in tourism management.
The course is international in focus, engages with the industry at all levels and is based on innovative research into emerging tourism fields. In recent years students from 38 different nationalities have completed the program.

Industry integration
The program has an international advisory board that reviews the direction of the program to ensure that it remains on the cutting edge of industry developments. Study tours are offered so students can hear from key industry operators both within Australia and internationally. For example the unit "APG 4390 Contemporary Issues in Tourism" includes and international study tour partially funded by the university. In 2011 the tour will visit the Fiji Islands.

What our students say
'Participating in the Graduate Tourism Program was one of the best development moves I have made. The program fosters an analytic approach to tourism, which sets it apart from other courses. The experience I gained in the areas of research, marketing and business development was up-to-date and immediately applicable in the workplace.
'The Master of Tourism has opened more doors for me than I could ever have imagined...I had the opportunity to study in Estonia where international tourism is only a recent phenomenon...I was able to gain an internship and then a full contract with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation in the department of Press and Communications in Madrid, Spain'. Sarah Leaman
'The Graduate Tourism Program was a fabulous mix of theory and application, giving students a real "hands-on" view of the tourism industry through case studies and industry seminars'. Stuart Richardson
